EVS Translations Reflects on an Eventful 2018 in the Translation Industry

The holidays are over and for some the new year is beginning as early as today with old and new tasks and challenges to be overcome. In the first few days of 2019, EVS Translations is using the resonance of the turn of the year as an opportunity to reflect on an eventful 2018.

For the translation company in Atlanta, for instance, March was a special month. There was cause for celebration as our US office turned 10 years old. Two employees attended the GALA Conference 2018 in Boston in the same month and the Southern SME Forum in Birmingham in the following month. EVS Translations will be going back in 2019 too – with the industry event due to take place in Munich this year. EVS Translations has been Across v6.3-certified since March following intensive on-site training. The final preparatory measures were taken in May in readiness for the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In conjunction with our in-house legal department and data protection officers, we enhanced our processes to keep our customers’ data even more secure. After all, your data is our most valuable commodity. Also in May, employees from the translation project management and translation technology departments at the Offenbach head office travelled to Berlin to attend the Plunet Summit 2018 to discover the latest features of the platform solution for translation management. The company’s hard work continued in June when it participated in the Germersheim Practice Days. The aim was to make students aware of the entry-level opportunities in translation companies and inform them about the requirements. The day before this event, the Offenbach team again took on the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge and crossed the finishing line unscathed. A high point for our Bulgarian office was in September at the 74th International Technical Fair in Plovdiv, where our stand supervisors advised translation purchasers on what to look out for when selecting a language service provider for technical translations. In October, Edward Vick spoke at the SlatorMeet conference in Hong Kong about customers’ increased need for security in the age of artificial intelligence and the advantages of the in-house translator concept. Quality is EVS Translations’ first priority, and in November we set about obtaining ISO 18587 certification for a new post-editing service. An external, independent auditor examined our processes on site to ensure compliance with the ISO 18587 standard and confirmed that we satisfied the requirements. Last but not least, the final in-house event of the year was held in December when one of our business development managers and expert in sports translations visited the International Sports Convention in Geneva and met sports marketing representatives from all over the world.

EVS Translations achieved a lot in 2018 and we will continue to develop our language services in specialist translation and complementary solution modules such as SEO, subtitling, voiceovers, translation management and CRM for translations in 2019 to meet the needs of our international companies. Whether you are an interested party or an existing customer, employees at EVS Translations will be happy to take the time to personally advise you on your individual translation needs. EVS Translations wishes you a happy new year and looks forward to more exciting projects in 2019!
