At the beginning of the month, our UK legal translation expert Joanne Brompton attended the 2019 Sport Resolutions Conference in London.
Now in its 5th year, the Conference has become one of the most reputable venues for international law and sport professionals.
The objective of the event is to challenge and respond to the big topical issues currently influencing International Sports Law and to discuss these openly from different points of view.
This year’s Conference focused firmly on further promoting integrity in sports and debated on the important areas of Anti-doping, Homophobia & Racism in Sport and Sport and Gambling.
The timing was particularly fortuitous as the Caster Semenya testosterone verdict has ignited debate about fairness and discrimination, women’s sport and human rights.
The panel discussions were presented by elite athletes, prominent sports lawyers and professionals committed to delivering the highest standards of integrity and transparency in sport.
For EVS Translations, one of the few global LSPs specialised in the field of the Sports Law, the Sport Resolutions Conference was a great opportunity to re-examine landmark sports industry cases and to further broaden our expertise in international sports jurisdiction by accessing our understanding of the legal issues affecting sports on a global level.
The calibre of the audience and delegates continues to grow each year and the breakout networking opportunities facilitated the chance to meet sports lawyers from multiple chambers and law firms and to discuss why machine translation is not a one-size-fits all solution for global sport stakeholders regardless of the continues technological improvements, along with effective strategies on integrating AI capacities for large-scale content and the future of predictive coding and plausible AI infusion across every stage of the e-discovery process.
The 2019 Sport Resolutions Conference demonstrated how law and sport are inextricably linked on an international basis. Next week EVS Translations is heading to Europe’s finest football business event, the Spielmacher Conference, where our Business Development Manager, a graduate in sports science, will be once again presenting our business services designed to support sport stakeholders on the international stage.
