Giving Young Talent a Chance – EVS Translations Training Programmes!

EVS Translations has been training its own young talent for more than 10 years now. Particularly interesting for our trainees and dual-education students is that, to date, we have had an acceptance rate of 100%. Our first office administration trainee, who joined us in 2008, is still working at the company today.

For the dual-education system, EVS Translations uses the business apprenticeship for office management. This system of providing training in two places – at the business and in vocational school – is now being copied in many countries because it gives young people practical and theoretical training at the same time.

Dennis Fischer has been a trainee with us since 1 August 2017.

JA: How did you come to be at EVS Translations?

DF: After completing my technical Abitur (secondary school leaving certificate) in business and management in 2016, I spent two semesters studying geoinformation and municipal technology. However, I realised that business interested me more, so I looked for a business apprenticeship for office management. I found EVS Translation’s advertisement and applied.

JA: What do you particularly enjoy about your training at EVS Translations?

DF: I have already been given the opportunity to handle a lot of different tasks independently, which demonstrates the high level of trust placed in me. I have never been given an order just to keep me busy; all of them have been of business relevance. If I have questions or am stuck with a task, I can always rely on my colleagues to take their time to help me out.

JA: What do you do in your spare time to balance out work?

DF: I spend most of my time in and on water. I have been swimming as a lifeguard for the DLRG (German Life Saving Association) in Grosskrotzenburg for more than 12 years. In the last few years, I discovered stand-up paddleboarding on the Main and am now a passionate fan of the sport.

JA: Do you already have plans for after your training?

DF: I have often thought about what I’m going to do in the future, but since I am now working in only the third department (marketing) – after accounting and secretarial and office management – and am not yet familiar with all departments and functions, it is a bit too soon for a final decision. The variety of office management activities makes this decision even more difficult.

Right now, my main goal is to complete my training programme and to learn as much as possible. I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you for the trust shown in me and for the support I have received. I am looking forward to the next two years!

EVS Translations is always looking for new talent: the next training places will be in autumn 2019. Keep an eye on our Careers page or submit a speculative application today.
