Cappuccino

This wonderful mixture of brown coffee and white milky foam combines the same colours as the headwear worn by the Capuchin monks who gave cappuccino its name.  A mixture of cream and coffee was served as a Kapuziner in Vienna as early as 1750, but the drink gained far greater prominence with the invention of the espresso machine at the beginning of the 20th century. However, the cappuccino truly became a drink for the world in the 1950s. In Italy, the UK and the United States, coffee bars became popular meeting places for a new group of consumers, and the frothy beverage was a favourite among the rock and roll generation.
