Limoncello

Word of the day: Limoncello Limoncello makes you feel Italy. Makes you feel relaxed. Limoncello makes you feel happy and wish life would be just a little longer. Or maybe you do not like it at all and prefer to drink good white wine. In this case, do not continue reading.

Limoncello was invented in Capri. Vicenza Canale served it up as a digestif to early visitors to the island. Her ancestors are still big players on the limoncello market today.

The lemon drink itself is made with lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar and then distilled for almost three months. Generally it is served chilled as an after-dinner drink and goes extremely well with tiramisu.
Limoncello is the second most popular liqueur in Italy but has recently become fashionable in other parts of the world. Restaurants around the globe  are increasingly offering it on their menus. The first recorded use of the word in English  occurred as late as 1993.
